In a scene that has been lacking some of its ‘fun’ element, it is refreshing to see a DJ breaking through who's bringing back the silly energetic sound that hard house used to have.

Even growing up Andy had an ear for music – from piano to guitar, and getting his first set of decks at the tender age of 16. He studied a BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology & as part of this he promoted a Hard Dance Night in Blackpool.

Over the next year Andy DJ’ed most weekends at the North West’s finest nights – Goodgreef pre-parties, Binary & Exodus to name a few.

A versatile DJ who’s as comfortable playing chunky, groovy warm-ups as he is playing his preferred style of dirty NRG, Andy stands out from the crowd by scratching, chopping and cutting his way through a set, not being afraid to use 3 decks or an acapella if need be.



The big break came for Andy after a mention from Andy Whitby prompted Will Paterson from Frantic to ask for a CD. Will gave Andy regular gigs at Frantic, giving him an unrivalled chance to break into the London scene.

Since then Andy has been given residencies with Frantic, Cyberkitten and a regular slot at legendary Birmingham after-party Shine. He has also played at many of the big name events across the country – Tasty, Raindance, Twist, Polysexual, Heat and Storm.

2006 saw him win the Parlez Vous? and Biscuit Monster DJ competition and kick off his production career with four releases on vinyl & digital download.



In 2007 Andy formed a notorious b2b partnership close friend Matt Pickup (now known as Pickup & Rise). They also set up their labels ''Hard Up Digital'' and “Hard Up Funk” to showcase the next generation of producers. His productions also made waves with several tracks being signed to Breed Digital & Beetabix, and “First Class Approval”, his recent release on Test Lab Recordings, claiming the number 1 spot on the Banging Tunes chart!

So far in 2008 Andy has achieved 2 of his biggest goals in the same week – playing main room at Tidy Weekender 14 and being signed to UDJs. With him also playing main room at Ministry of Sound, being booked to play at Frantic’s 11th birthday and mixing part of the new Frantic Residents Album alongside Matt Pickup, this year looks set to bring even bigger and better things for Andy.

Hard House Academy is an institution (no, not the kind where they lock crazy people…though there are some similarities). It’s a clubbing institution, a place for unrivalled madness, incredible music and unbeatable atmosphere. It’s the biggest hard dance event in the world. 4 rooms, a balcony, 9 bars, winner of many awards for Best Venue amongst other things…I could go on but the only way to really appreciate how huge and how imposing the venue is, is to see it for yourself.
